Toshimon Types
Further your skills on the path to becoming a ToshiMaster
Each Toshimon falls into either one or two of 14 different Toshimon types. Next to the individual Toshimon stats (such as HP, Attack, Defense, etc), these types determine what each creature's strengths, abilities and weaknesses are. When putting together a party, remember that creating a well-balanced team is the most important skill a Toshimon trainer can have.
The following chart tells you what attacks are effective against what opponent types.

Green squares indicate the attack is effective and deals twice the damage (i.e. Fire attack causes double damage when used on a Plant type Toshimon)
Red squares indicate the attack is not effective and will only deal half the damage (i.e. Light attack causes half damage when used on an Earth type Toshimon)
Grey Squares Indicate 0 Damage, meaning the move is resisted (i.e. Dark Move deals no damage to a Heart Type Toshimon)
Note, the damage any given attack causes is further determined by each individual Toshimon's Level as well as Attack and Special stats. A Toshimon that uses an attack that is of its same type (ie: Monereau, a Crystal type Toshimon, using the Crystalizer move) deals damage based off of their Special Attack Stat where a Toshimon that uses a non-matching attack (ie: Monereau, a Crystal type Toshimon, using the Icy Shards move).
Toshimon Type Descriptions
Below, you will find a quick listing of the categories, as well as some popular picks of each Toshimon type. Almost every Toshimon can be a worthwhile addition to your team. It's all about selecting the right combination. Performance enhancers can also help turning an average Toshimon into a mean fighting machine, so be sure to give the items pages a thorough look.
Flex
Flex types may have more weaknesses than the other types, but they also inflict double damage to the ultra powerful Crystal types.
Popular Toshimon: the cute and cuddly Eros, beefy Brawlosaur or ever famous Pepera
Fire
In general, Fire Toshimon are not quite as powerful as Water or Earth types, but they're an excellent choice against Plant, Ice and Ether types. Most players tend to train Magmaboom the most out of all their Fire Toshimon. Although the mighty Magma has good stats, it's also vulnerable to Dark and Crystal attacks. It's better to stick with a single-type Fire Toshimon.
Popular Toshimon: the well rounded Incendeon, hot headed Pyrus or fearsome Firestalk
Water
These Toshimon make a splash -- which is a good thing if you've got a lot of Plant and Ice Toshimon. But there is simply no better choice against Flex or Fire types than a powerful Water Toshimon.
Popular Toshimon: the weeping Floweon or majestic Maren
Light
Light Toshimon seek to bring balance to a dark world and oddly find that with the same number of effective and resisted move types. They are especially powerful to several of the strongest types of Toshimon, the Dark and Crystal types, making them an essential addition to any team.
Popular Toshimon: the mischievous Voltape or Nakamoto's very own, Satoshimon
Plant
There are only 2 true plant type Toshimon (meager Raf or Poople... yes the poo Toshimon). All others are dual type, which can leave them vulnerable to a lot of attacks. However, Plant type resists a game best of 5 different types of attacks.
Popular Toshimon: the beautiful Floreon or terrifying Tomoqueen
Ice
Ice Toshimon are fairly common and leave little to be desired. Their use is more of a niche case to make quick work of Water or Toxic types.
Popular Toshimon: Snark
Brute
Brute Toshimon are some of the strongest attackers in the game. However, their low defense levels leave them lacking that high overall score enjoyed by other types. However, don't count Brutes out. Their game best 5 type resistances and effectiveness against 2 of the most powerful types, Heart and Crystal, help them find a way into even the best Toshimon trainers team.
Popular Toshimon: Bufflax, Stalagmite and yes the Doge himself
Toxic
There are few pure Toxic types. However, some of the most powerful Toshimon are Toxic hybrids. You wont want to use them to take on Dark or Heart Toshis but they can really dish out against elemental types Water, Plant and Earth.
Popular Toshimon: the fire/toxic Flamoth, part fusion Cobber or the mighty King Bera!
Earth
Earth types are fairly common but still pack a punch. They are a solid economical choice and have their right place on the right team. Also, like Light, Earth is tied for the fewest weaknesses with 2 - Plant and Toxic.
Popular Toshimon: Aquamink, Lochess & Gemsnake
Ether
Ether types are rare. And, rightfully so as they are some of the most powerful creatures in Toshimon. Just be sure to watch out for other power house types Dark and Crystal as they will surely make quick work of your Ether Toshi.
Popular Toshimon: the quick and offensive Ghoun, generalist attacker Aghast, or the illustrious ZK
Digital
Digital Toshimon are strong, defensive types are are especially useful against Ether and Heart types. However, be sure to call your Digital Toshi back if facing a Crystal type as their moves will not affect it!
Popular Toshimon: the adorable pop tart cat Nyan, the dreamy Lianti or the petite, tank Glitcheon
Dark
At the opposite end of the spectrum from Light are Dark types. And a good thing they are far away because Light types make quick work of them. However, Darks are a great choice against the popular Ether and Digital types. Just be sure to switch out immediately against Heart types as your moves will not damage them.
Popular Toshimon: the gloomy, entertainer bunny Sulkalot or the tantalizing Neram
Heart
Heart Toshimon come with some of the strongest status effect techniques. They can sleep, confuse and paralyze their way to victory. Some of the stronger Heart types are dual type but with the right team, they can find their perfect spot.
Popular Toshimon: kind-hearted Puppuff, majestic Tomoqueen or bipedal, humanoid Flamoof
Crystal
This ultra-rare Toshimon type is the most powerful in the game. Crystal Toshimon also only exist in dual form but this should not make a difference as you'll want to slot any Crystal type you are lucky enough to find into your team. These five legendary Toshimon are rumored to be gods and celestial beings.
Legendary Toshimon: Plinky, Monereau, Classeek, Satoshimon, Talikmon
