Getting Started

If you're new to cryptocurrencies, never purchased Ethereum - no worries. This complete guide will walk you through, start to finish.

New to Crypto? New to NFTs? Don't know where to start but want to play? We got ya covered! This complete guide will help navigate how to convert your native currency into crypto that you can use to farm and collect them all!

  1. Purchasing Crypto - To get started, you will need to purchase crypto currency from a cryptocurrency exchange. Ethereum is the recommended coin to purchase as it is used for buying $TOSHI directly. One of the most popular exchanges in the world, Coinbase, will likely be one of your best options to complete your Ethereum purchase. Note, cryptocurrency regulations vary depending on country of origin. To assist in crypto exchange recommendations for your location, check out recomendation sites such as LocalBitcoins. Once you have selected an exchange, you will have to complete the verification process required by that specific site in order to create an account and make any purchases. Once the account creation is complete, feel free to purchase as little or much Ethereum as you would like for future trades. Toshimon strives to keep a minimal barrier to entry and expect a $50 USD purchase of Ethereum to provide an adequate amount for competitive play.

  2. Creating a Wallet - Registered an account on a cryptocurrency exchange and completed your first purchase? Congratulations! Now its time to make that currency your own by moving it off of the exchange website and into your own cryptocurrency wallet. An exchange will hold your purchased currency but you will not be able to use that currency outside of the exchange until you move it into your own wallet. When creating a wallet, you will be issued a wallet address and its seed phrase. If you lose your seed phrase, you will lose access to your wallet and the funds in it. For this reason it is very important to understand that there is no central entity (i.e. bank) that you can contact should you lose your wallet password. You must have your seed phrase in order to recover your forgotten password. It is generally best practice to physically write down your seed phrase and store it in multiple secure locations.

    1. What wallet should I choose? Toshimon supports various wallets and the choice is ultimately up to you. However, users have reported the best experience with the Metamask wallet. Simply head to their website to download and check out their FAQs should you have any questions.

  3. Send Crypto to your Wallet - Now that you've got yourself an empty wallet, its time to fill it with that Ethereum from the exchange. Locate the send (or withdraw) section within the company website/app that you purchased the Ethereum from. Now select the amount of Ethereum you would like to send and continue. Next you will be prompted to enter an address that you would like to send the Ethereum to. This is going to be your newly created Metamask address. To locate, click on the fox icon at the top right of your browser (you need to pin the plugin if it's not already showing here) to access your wallet. Once loaded, you will see useful information such as any assets you have in the wallet and your wallet address. To locate your wallet address, find "Account" in the top, center of the screen, right under "Ethereum Mainnet". Directly under "Account" is your wallet address that should start in 0x. Now move your courser over "Account" and you should see a little 'pop-up' message appear saying "Copy to clipboard". Go ahead and click "Account" and you will receive another little 'pop-up' message saying "Copied!" to confirm you have copied the address. Now go back to the company website/app that you purchased the Ethereum from, past your address into the 'To' section and send (only after previewing send and confirming the address copied matches your Metamask address exactly the same).

    1. Warning! If you do not copy your wallet address identically, you could send your Ethereum to someone else without any way of getting it back! If you would like to confirm the address appears properly, click the three dots at the top right of Metamask's window and select "Account Details". This will show you the complete address. Also, you will see a QR Code here. If you are using a mobile app from your exchange, you may be able to scan this QR Code to import the address (if your exchange's mobile app supports this feature).

    2. Important - Sending Ethereum from an exchange to your wallet can be a slow process! Do not panic if it takes up to ten minutes or longer for your transaction to complete. The amount of time it takes for a transaction to complete depends on how many other people are sending transactions on the Ethereum network as well.

    3. Also Important - spending Ethereum from your wallet is not free! You will pay in Ethereum every time you complete a transaction. So make sure to keep a fair amount of Ethereum in your wallet to cover transaction fees for future purchases, etc. Without funds to cover transaction fees, you will be stuck unless you send more Ethereum to your wallet. We recommend keeping at least 0.1-0.2 Ethereum in your wallet at all times to cover fees.

  4. Time to Purchase! - It's finally time to purchase $TOSHI or ToshiCash with your new wallet! You'll likely want to start out with some ToshiCash so you can purchase packs of cards from toshimon.io/store. Once you get some packs, head over to toshimon.io/OpenPacks and get cracking. If you already have cards and would like to fuse them via ToshiFusion, then go right ahead and grab some $TOSHI. If you would like to Stake LPNFTs to earn ToshiCash then grab a Greyscale, Cyber Hornet or BOTH and follow our guide to get farming!
